We begin a new series on the Road to Recovery, finding healing for our hurts, habits and hang-ups, as expressed by Rick Warren, and based on the Beatitudes of Matthew 5.
Step 1—Realize I am not God. As long as I continue to think I can ‘fix’ myself if I just try hard enough, I will fall. Only from a position of humility can I approach God in His holiness. Only as I admit my poverty of spirit and my powerlessness in the face of my sinful desires can I become open to letting God empower me to both choose and do good. Ask God for that humility today.
