The Spirit then compelled Jesus to go into the wilderness, Mark 1:12 (NLT)
At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.” Luke 10:21 (NLT)
Jesus followed the promptings of the Father that came through the Spirit of God. The Spirit was the voice of His Father, prompting Him at each step. The disciples followed this same pattern they saw in Jesus. On more than fifty occasions in the book of Acts, the Spirit is mentioned as working in and guiding the early Christ-followers. The book of Acts shows us that we can’t live the life God has called us to without the guiding and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Let’s launch into Lent today committing ourselves to a good season of development and growth in the Lord.
