All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. 1 Corinthians 12:1 (NIV)
The manifestation (revelation) of the Spirit is not the gift. The gift is the Holy Spirit himself. The Spirit prompts us and we begin to act. The Spirit is manifested to those around us through our actions when those actions are empowered by the Spirit. The Spirit may move us out of our comfort zones, and we need to expect that rather than be surprised and scared by it. God has not given us a spirit of fear, so we can go confidently in faith wherever He points us.
