“You have heard the law that says, ‘A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a written notice of divorce.’ But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman also commits adultery.” Matthew 5:31-32 (NLT)
In God’s view, marriage should not be entered into lightly, and certainly should not be ended arbitrarily. When two people have been united in Christian marriage, God’s intention is that they should remain faithful for life. Problems (resulting from sin) can be dealt with like any other sin, with confession and forgiveness, as we seek God’s will for our marriage just as we would seek God’s will for any other area of our lives.
