Sermon on the Mount – Anger

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.”
Matthew 5:23-24 (NLT)

In this passage, Jesus explains that God cares about not only murder, but all the steps (anger, insults, curses) that can lead us toward murder. In other words, consider the impact your words and actions have on others. Don’t let them tear relationships apart. In God’s view, real, healthy relationships matter. Protect them, build them, grow them as you are empowered by the Holy Spirit.
