Identity Roles – Strength

[D]o you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price; therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV)

Strength refers to our bodies, our energies, our abilities, our power for life. The Scriptures encourage us to do everything in the power of God, and avoid the religious treadmill, trying to follow the guidance of God in our own strength. We honor God with our bodies when we not only care for and develop them, but rely on the strength of God, accepting that our physical strength is sufficient for our situation, for whatever God will ask us to do.
